Inner+Outer Awareness of the bodymindSPIRIT

Regardless of people’s physical abilities and limitations the way I teach yoga is accessible to all.  The use of kinesiology is part of my thought process as well as the needs and desires of the individual.  Relaxation, slowing down, and breathing are crucial in changing one’s mind and body perspective.  Tension feeds into pain and then pain feeds back into the tension and becomes a vicious cycle – combining breathing and tension release yoga techniques we will discharge layers of tension and stress built up by life and living, clearing the pathway to a brighter, better you.  

Taking into account alignment, positioning, breath work, the weak and vulnerable parts of the body and mind – these elements are brought into awareness dynamically. Specializing in structured, layered sessions, specifically designed for the student, the asana practice or poses allow the individual to open safely into self-awareness. Yoga provides many health and healing benefits. It’s not about getting to the finish line as fast as you can, but developing good judgment and skills to be in balance within the mind, body, and spirit. Yoga is not one size fits all; it is for all body types and sizes. Athletes are really strong and have a strong will to work but are much stiffer. The needs and capabilities of American bodies are different from the Sages and Monks in India.  We use our bodies so adversely – we are a sedentary society, the muscles and joints are developed differently – sitting in chairs most of the time – knees and ankles resist, hips tighten, and the spine and back of the body is weak. For example, Asians are used to squatting and sitting on the floor culturally. Stabilizing muscles in Americans or Westerners, which are weak and unstable, the trunk – the core; is important so that we can strengthen and lengthen the back, knees, and inflexible hamstrings, as well as the other parts of the body. 

 

In conclusion, inner+outer awareness of the bodymindSPIRIT takes practice. I am well versed and trained in developing programs for all body types and individual's needs. Private or group lessons are available. Please inquire via email for rates. Further, I am flexible to travel to your home, business, or specific venue to practice with you. The only thing I ask of you is to show up and leave your ego at the door.
